For Karim Nassar's personal website, an uncluttered, elegant aesthetic was desired.
Some key Standards-based client-side techniques were used to achieve some unusual and striking layout effects, such as page text wrapping around the curve of the site logo, and the extreme text kerning in the page titles.
Additionally, the photography gallery was built using server-side code to automate the building of new photo galleries. New images are published by simply uploading full-size photographs into a given directory— the server-side script handles the rest.
When the user clicks on a thumbnail, the image is viewed as a "virtual photograph" floating above the page.
The Phoenix Nest logo depicts the phoenix constellation, blending the photographic with the arcane to achieve a mysterious and contemporary atmosphere.
